Fast fashion and the war on waste is something that has been highlighted significantly over the past year. The ABC’s War on Waste stated that over 6000kg of clothing is being dumped in landfill every 10 minutes due to the epic rise of fast fashion, so are designers really taking this in to consideration when designing?
Let me introduce to you Australian designer Felicity Cooney…
Felicity studied fashion in London and New York where she was influenced by her lecturers to showcase the idea of Zero Waste fashion. Embracing the pathway to ethical sustainability, Felicity demonstrates Zero Waste pattern cutting techniques, supports local Australian suppliers when sourcing fabrics and materials and her design studio in run on solar energy….how cool is that!? One up from that Felicity donates any leftover fabrics to local kindergarten classes. ADORABLE!
Not only is she leading the path in sustainable fashion her designs are simple, elegant, functional and super fun with the occasional pop of colour! The Black Cross Body Bag was the perfect travel companion for me through Europe & Africa. Keeping all my travel documents safe on those epic travel days but helping me glam it up a night too. Perfecto!
